Managed ChatGPT Ads: what the retainer actually does each week
White-Glove is the managed tier: Tarun personally operates your OpenAI Ads Manager account on a fixed weekly cadence — hints rewritten Monday, creative cycled fortnightly, measurement audited monthly, and a plain-English readout that separates what worked from what merely happened. $1,499 a month for up to $10,000 in managed spend, month-to-month, inside your account.

What is managed ChatGPT Ads?
Managed ChatGPT Ads is a done-for-you retainer in which an operator runs your OpenAI Ads Manager account end to end — strategy, context hints, creative, bidding, measurement and reporting — on a fixed weekly cadence, inside your own ad account. It is distinct from a one-off setup project (which hands you a built account and walks away) and from consulting (which advises but does not execute). The value is in the cadence: this channel rewards weekly hint iteration, and weekly iteration is precisely what stops happening when the work sits on a busy internal to-do list.
The operating cadence
A retainer is only worth what it does in the weeks nobody is watching. Here is the actual rhythm.
| When | What happens | What you see |
|---|---|---|
| Every Monday | Full account review: delivery, pacing against daily budget, hint-level performance, ad-group win/loss. Losing hints cut, winning intents promoted. | Written readout in Slack — spend, impressions, clicks, CTR, avg CPC, avg CPM, conversions, cost per conversion, and the changes made. |
| Mid-week check | Pacing and anomaly check. Budget reallocated between ad groups if one is starving. | Only if something needs your decision. |
| Every fortnight | Creative cycle: new headline and description angles against the current winner, landing-page recommendations where the drop-off is post-click rather than in-conversation. | New creative shipped, previous test result explained. |
| Monthly | Optimization sprint: campaign structure revisited, bid strategy re-evaluated per ad group, measurement re-audited, view-through trends reviewed separately from click-through. | A month-in-review with the honest read on whether the channel deserves more budget. |
| Continuously | Platform-change monitoring. When OpenAI ships something — and in 2026 it ships constantly — we assess whether it applies to your account before you have to ask. | A note when it matters. Silence when it doesn’t. |
Onboarding: measurement before media
Most underperforming ChatGPT Ads accounts are not creative problems. They are measurement problems that nobody caught, and the failure mode is silent — the conversion column simply reads zero and no error appears anywhere.
- Account and billing verification. Ad account created or access granted, Persona verification completed, billing confirmed live. Nothing launches into an unverified account.
- Pixel install and debug validation. The OpenAI Pixel installed on the pages that matter, initializing with the correct pixel ID, validated in debug mode. Where a tag manager is in play we confirm it loads the snippet reliably and does not reorder the initialization and event calls.
- Event-name matching. The single most common cause of a zero conversion count: a standard event whose type does not match what you send, or a custom event whose name does not exactly match. A matching display name is not enough. We verify the configured conversion is attached to the campaign before traffic starts, because historical events from a mismatched setup do not backfill once corrected.
- Server-side coverage. Conversions API for server-side events — Shopify, headless storefronts, warehouse-side conversions — preserving click reference values such as
opprefso events attribute correctly. WorkMagic connected where you want cross-channel context. - Automatic advanced matching. Enabled via Tools → Conversions → Data Source, set for all Web data sources. No Pixel implementation changes are needed; the Pixel hashes supported form-entered customer information in the browser before it is sent with conversion events.
- URL parameters and reconciliation. Dynamic landing-page query parameters configured with the supported macros —
{campaign_id},{ad_group_id},{ad_id},{ad_account_id}— so your analytics can segment ChatGPT traffic properly. Set at the right level, since more specific settings take precedence: Ad URL, then Ad, then Ad Group, then Campaign.
The 24–48 hour rule
Conversions are not reflected in Ads Manager immediately — allow 24 to 48 hours for attributed conversions to appear. Any agency reporting day-one conversion performance is reporting noise. We do not send a conversion readout before the data has settled, and we will say so rather than fill the slide.

What the reporting actually contains
Ads Manager currently exposes impressions, clicks, spend, CTR, avg CPC, avg CPM and conversions at campaign, ad group and ad level, in table view, chart view and CSV export. For eligible accounts it also surfaces supplemental one-day view-through conversions. We report all of it, with two disciplines that are not universal:
- View-through stays separate. VTA (1d) is reported in its own column, never summed into the Conversions total, and never used to compute CPA or post-click conversion rate. It is supplemental evidence, not performance.
- Clicks and analytics sessions get reconciled, not explained away. Ad clicks measure ad interactions; analytics sessions depend on page load, redirects, consent settings, browser blocking, UTM handling, attribution windows and time zones. When the two disagree we compare the same date range and time zone and check campaign and ad-level activity in the CSV, rather than picking whichever number flatters the month.
For product-feed campaigns, note that the Products tab is an insights-backed reporting view rather than a complete feed inventory — products appear once an active campaign delivers and generates reporting data. We use the product count during ad-group setup to confirm feed readiness, and we tell you which it is when a product is missing.
Markets and platform coverage
We can operate any account in a market where Ads Manager is live: Australia, Brazil, Canada, Japan, Korea, Mexico, New Zealand, the United Kingdom and the United States. Campaign targeting supports country-level control everywhere, and in the United States also state, DMA and ZIP-code targeting — OpenAI publishes a downloadable location catalog, and we check a location against it rather than assuming.
Platform targeting is set deliberately on every campaign we run rather than left at default: iOS App, Android App, Web, or a combination. Minimum daily budgets are per billing currency — $25 USD, £15 GBP, 40 BRL, 150 MXN, 25 AUD, 25 CAD, 25 NZD, 2,500 JPY, 25,000 KRW — and we start on daily rather than campaign-total budgets so pacing stays observable. With ChatGPT Ads live in Brazil and Mexico and a 31-country European expansion announced, market coverage is the fastest-moving part of this channel; if you sell into a market that opens, we will tell you before your competitors notice.
When a retainer is the wrong answer
We would rather turn down a bad-fit retainer than churn one out in month three. A managed engagement is the wrong call if:
- Your entire market sits outside the nine countries where Ads Manager is live. Wait for your market to open.
- You have under about $500/month to put behind media. At that level the management fee dominates and you should run it yourself with the free playbook.
- You already have a paid-search operator with genuine spare capacity. Buy them the cornerstone guide and an afternoon instead.
- You need profitability in week one. Attribution alone takes 24–48 hours to settle and the learning period is real.
If one of those describes you, the discovery call will end with us saying so. That is a cheaper outcome for both of us than a retainer that dies in ninety days.
Managed ChatGPT Ads FAQ
What is included in managed ChatGPT Ads management?
A kickoff strategy call and account audit, context-hint research and weekly iteration, ad copy at multiple angles on a fortnightly test cycle, campaign and ad group build inside your own OpenAI Ads account, bid strategy selection and budget management, full measurement setup (Pixel, Conversions API, automatic advanced matching, dynamic URL parameters), product-feed campaign setup where a catalog is connected, a weekly performance readout, a monthly optimization sprint, and direct Slack access to the founder. Ad spend is separate and billed by OpenAI directly to you.
How much does managed ChatGPT Ads cost?
$1,499 per month, flat, covering up to $10,000 in managed monthly ad spend. There is no percentage of spend and no markup on media — you pay OpenAI directly for the media and Context Hints only for management. Above $10,000 managed monthly spend the engagement moves to Enterprise, which is custom-priced and adds multiple connected ad accounts, a SOC 2 Type II diligence pack, MSA and DPA, net-30 invoicing and BI export.
How is this different from a one-off ChatGPT Ads setup project?
A setup project builds the account and hands it back. Managed service is about the cadence afterwards, which is where this channel actually pays: weekly context-hint iteration, fortnightly creative cycles, monthly structural review, and continuous monitoring of a platform that is shipping new controls almost monthly. If your account is already built and you only need it audited, say so on the call — we will scope that instead of selling you a retainer.
Who runs my account day to day?
Tarun Kapoor, personally — twelve years of media buying across GroupM, WPP, Ogilvy & Mather and Neil Patel Digital, with media owned for Nestlé, Sage, Qualcomm, Aetna, Weight Watchers, Chubb and Novotel. There is no pod, no account-manager layer and no handoff from the person who pitched you to a different team after signature.
Do I need my own OpenAI Ads Manager account?
Yes, and that is deliberate. All media runs through your own account on your own billing, so you keep the ad account, the conversion history, the campaign learnings and the audience data if the engagement ends. If you do not have an account yet, opening and verifying one is step one of onboarding — our Ads Manager setup walkthrough covers the sequence, including Persona verification timing.
How long before I see results from ChatGPT Ads?
Delivery data is meaningful within the first week. Conversion data is not: attributed conversions take 24 to 48 hours to appear in Ads Manager, and you need enough volume past that lag to read anything into it. The honest shape is a first readout at day 10 covering delivery and hint performance, and a genuine read on channel viability at around day 30. Anyone promising a profitable week one is describing a coincidence, not a process.
Why do my conversion events show zero in Ads Manager?
Almost always an event-matching failure rather than a tracking failure. A conversion event can be firing and accepted and still report zero if it does not match the conversion event configured for the campaign — for standard events the event type must match what you send, and for custom events Ads Manager must use Event type: Custom with the custom event name matching exactly. A matching display name is not sufficient. Correcting the configuration does not backfill historical events, so this has to be verified before traffic starts, which is why it is step three of our onboarding.
Can you manage ChatGPT Ads alongside my Google and Meta campaigns?
We manage the ChatGPT Ads side and integrate the reporting rather than taking over your other channels. Connecting ChatGPT Ads to WorkMagic lets you view performance alongside other channels and send conversion signals back to OpenAI through the Conversions API, which is usually the cleanest way to defend the channel in a blended-CAC review without moving all your media.
What happens if I want to cancel?
Month-to-month with 14 days’ notice. Because media has been running through your own OpenAI Ads account throughout, cancellation costs you nothing structural — the account, the campaigns, the conversion history and the audience learning stay with you, and any operator can pick them up. We think that is the only defensible arrangement for a channel this young.

The discovery call functions as one. Bring your ad account (or your plan for one) to a 30-minute call and we will review structure, measurement setup and context hints, and tell you the two or three things worth fixing first — whether or not you hire us. If measurement is broken, you will leave the call knowing exactly where.
